Implementing a QR Code-Based Restaurant Menu Using WordPress

Objective: The main objective of this project was to develop and implement a QR code-based menu that customers could easily access on their mobile devices by scanning a QR code. The menu needed to be responsive, user-friendly, and easily updatable via the restaurant’s existing WordPress website.

Process:

  1. Design and Development:
    • Platform Choice: The restaurant chose WordPress for its flexibility, ease of use, and wide range of plugins.
    • Mobile Optimization: The team ensured that the menu was mobile-responsive, as the digital menu was intended solely for mobile use.
    • QR Code Integration: A dynamic QR code was generated and linked directly to the mobile version of the online menu. This QR code was then printed and displayed on each table within the restaurant.
  2. Implementation:
    • Staff Training: Before launching the new menu, staff were trained on the new system to ensure they could assist customers effectively.
    • Customer Education: Table tents with instructions on how to access the menu via QR code were placed on tables to guide customers through the process.
  3. Testing and Feedback:
    • Pilot Testing: The system was tested in a controlled environment within the restaurant to ensure functionality and ease of use.
    • Feedback Collection: Feedback was collected from customers and staff during the first month to identify any issues and areas for improvement.

Results: The implementation of the QR code-based menu was met with positive feedback from both customers and staff. Key outcomes included:
